Dallas Karate is a sanctioned dojo of the Ryukoku Seidokan Karate Kobudo Renmei (RSKKR) in Okinawa, Japan, founded to preserve and propagate the art of Sensei Shian Toma. Seidokan Karate involves open-hand, weapons, jujitsu, and ground techniques. We teach classical Okinawan combat martial arts with practical life-preservation principles and applications to today's world, expanding these same principles to tactical weapons of today, such as the knife, flashlight, kubaton (key-chain), and mace. Our lessons are taught classically, where our applications are taught with the reality of today's environment.
Dallas Karate is not a commercial karate school. Our dues are kept low and our classes will remain small by design. We are not looking to create an army of karate students to pay expensive rent. Our interest has always been in operating a small intimate group interested in learning proven principles of movement applied to solid life preservation skills.

Family ClassFamily class is open to children and parents. Students will work coordination drills and learn how to punch, kick, block, and perform takedowns. Skills learned here will relate to self-defense, not fighting, which are two different things. We do not participate in tournaments. All certificates come from Okinawa, Japan.

The Instructor:
Daniel Peterson, Ph.D.
Daniel Peterson, 4th degree Black Belt in Ryukoku Seidokan Karate and Kobudo Federation (RSKKR), started his training Aikijujitsu and Karate-jutsu under Sensei Dennis Sukut in 2000. He later started studying from Sensei Donald Hayhurst, author of Okinawa Seidokan Tome Volume 1 History (Lulu, 2010), and many seniors in Seidokan, as well as other arts. The benefits of this continually add to his insight and experience for the ever-growing development of coherent, principle-based teaching methods for both adults and children, applicable to today's society.
He has been teaching karate since 2010, and started Dallas Karate in 2013. |
